The Vienna Capitals celebrated a deserved 5-2 away win at HC TIWAG Innsbruck on Saturday evening.
Kevin Constantine’s team, which had the upper hand throughout the game, took a 2-0 lead thanks to a double strike in the 18th minute. Nelson Nogier and Benjamin Lanzinger score within 12 seconds. Benjamin Corbeil scores the next goal in the middle third in the power play (26th/PP1), but again it is the Viennese who can follow up with a double strike. Zane Franklin (39th) and Linden Vey (40th) raise within 65 seconds. In the final third, Sebastian Benker scores for the Haie in the power play (54th/PP1). Former Innsbruck striker Senna Peeters brings the final point. The 23-year-old scored his first goal (55th) in his second appearance for the Capitals after a long injury break.
Statement Kevin Constantine, head coach of the Vienna Capitals
“It was an important win for us! It was nice that we got the puck into the opponent’s goal a few times. It was pretty difficult for us to score goals lately. Overall, our game was very solid. Compliments to my players! We’ve suffered a few tough defeats recently, they worked hard today and played a good game. Senna Peeters was great in the two games he played. It’s really hard to come back after such a long injury break, harder than most people imagine. I’m happy that He was able to reward himself with a goal today. Sebastian Wraneschitz helped us a lot with some really great saves. We played well in front of him, so he wasn’t challenged much, but when we needed him, he was there for us.
After three away games in a row, the Viennese team continues next Friday with a home game against HC Falkensteiner Pustertal in the STEFFL Arena (7.15 p.m.).
