The infrastructure of the STEFFL Arena is crucial for the Vienna Capitals, the future of the organization and ice hockey in Vienna in general. And now there is positive news!
Maintaining the STEFFL Arena and, above all, enabling games to be played in Hall 1 of the STEFFL Arena once again presented the organization with major challenges and problems last season, which fortunately remained largely hidden from visitors thanks to the great commitment of many employees within the entire Caps and STEFFL Arena family.
Finally new cooling system!
The new LED and show lighting system was very positively received. The long-awaited construction of the new refrigeration system by the city of Vienna is now scheduled to take place in the coming months until early autumn. On the one hand, this should ensure stable cooling with greater performance than is possible with the current mobile units and, on the other hand, it should also enable the operation of the third ice rink, which is so important for popular sports and youth work. In the coming season, however, the mobile cooling mat field and the risks and disadvantages it offers will still have to be worked on in Hall 1. The renovation of the so-called ice slope necessary to connect it to the new cooling system can only take place after the coming ice season. From the current perspective, regular and trouble-free operation of all three halls should be possible again for all users of the STEFFL Arena, especially in the core season.
Admission stop for young people
In any case, the need is definitely there, the Junior Capitals have had an admission freeze for some time now, as the demand for children to be admitted to the rookie program is too high, which, in addition to the city of Vienna’s renovation measures, can also be seen as an extremely positive sign for the future of Vienna ice hockey and the Capitals.
