ICEHL: Difficult away double for the Innsbruck Haie!

The win2day ICE Hockey League is entering the international break. But before that, the sharks still have two big challenges ahead of them.

The disappointment in the HCI camp after the 2:4 defeat against the Black Wings Linz was great, after all the Haie had led 2:0 for a long time. “That was a big opportunity that we unfortunately didn’t take advantage of. We’ve made a lot of progress as a team in the last few weeks, but we can’t miss these opportunities. If we have the chance to score points, we have to take them,” said head coach Ryan Kinasewich.

But we have to look forward again, the HCI still has two big tasks ahead of it this weekend before the international break. It’s away against KAC and Ljubljana. “This will be a real test for us as a team. Against these top teams we have to show our best ice hockey for 60 minutes, keep the game simple and play hard. We hope that the boys show a reaction after the bad third period against Linz,” said the coach.

Today at EC KAC

The game at EC-KAC starts today. The Klagenfurt team are “only” in sixth place, but have really gained momentum recently. In October, the Red Jackets scored points in all eight games, with seven wins and only one OT defeat against Ljubljana. However, Klagenfurt has not been a bad ground for the sharks in recent years. The Tyroleans won six of the last ten games at the KAC. Exactly a year ago, the Haie left the ice there as a 4-1 winner.

Saturday near Laibach

Tomorrow, Saturday, the duel with Olimpija Ljubljana is on the agenda. The Dragons are in second place in the table and have recently recovered after a short slump and won four games in a row. This is the Sharks’ third duel with Ljubljana this season. The clear 3:9 home defeat in the TIWAG Arena in September was followed by the 7:6/OT victory at Olimpija almost three weeks ago. In a wild game with lots of penalties, Max Coatta scored the winning goal with a power play goal in overtime.
