The Steinbach Black Wings Linz beat the EC iDM Heat Pumps VSV 3-0 and thus overtook the Villach team in the table. In eighth place, the Upper Austrians are now two points ahead of VSV, which fell back to ninth place. After a goalless opening third, Niklas Würschl gave the home team a deserved lead in the 33rd minute in a power play. In the final section, however, the guests set the tone and definitely deserved the equalizer. Almost four minutes before the end, Emilio Romig made the preliminary decision with his goal, before Graham Knott made everything clear with an empty-net goal 54 seconds before the final siren. For goalkeeper Rasmus Tirronen it was the second home game in a row without conceding a goal, after Hydro Fehérvár AV19 were defeated 7-0 on December 30th.
