The Steinbach Black Wings turned up the heat after a hard-fought 40 minutes against HC Innsbruck and were rewarded with an important 4-1 win. Coach Phil Lukas was relieved afterwards.
After the narrow overtime defeat against the Graz99ers, the fourth in a row, the Linz team returned to their home crowd. Despite the mixed season, the game was sold out with 4,865 fans! And they got to see a lot.
The Haie equalized Linz’s lead in the middle third, but the Stahlstadt team turned up the heat in the final period and won 4-1. The match winner was Yohann Auvitu with two goals and he was relieved afterwards: “I’m happy with how it went. We needed a result like that to move forward. Four out of six points from the last two matches is huge, we have to build on that.”
Coach Phil Lukas was pleased with the performance of his addition to the “Oberösterreichische Nachrichten”: “He is an absolute professional, has a great attitude and helps our game.” And he was also relieved about the win: “These three points are very important in the situation we find ourselves in. It was a difficult task against a good opponent.”
For the Black Wings, it continues tomorrow against Fehervar. With a win it would be a conciliatory end to the year.
