The Graz99ers are in the ICEHL final and are waiting for their final opponent. Today HC Pustertal could secure its place in the final with a home win over Olimpija Ljubljana and then challenge the Styrians. The people of Graz don’t really care who the opponent is. You only have one goal and are self-confident, as Michael Schiechl clearly stated (“We can beat anyone!”).
President Herbert Jerich can hardly get the grin off his face at the moment: “When I announced the championship title as my goal, I was laughed at in many places. But everything turned out as we hoped,” said the 47-year-old to the “Krone” and already revealed the celebration plans.
Big championship parade planned
The 99ers creator is already planning a big championship celebration just in case: “I don’t believe in shouting anything out. We are on the verge of great success and are dealing with it. If we become champions, we want to celebrate it. On the main square, on the town hall balcony. And with a parade through Herrengasse with a team bus, 99ers Lamborghini and Jerich truck. It should be a show like we know from the USA,” says Jerich, who also immediately made it clear: “But first we have to close the bag in the final series.”
