Good mood in the HCI camp after the victory in Ljubljana last Sunday – now Fehérvár and champions Salzburg are waiting.
The 7:6/OT victory at league leaders Ljubljana was good for the Haie, and that was also noticeable in the last week of training. Now the Tyroleans are optimistic about their next tasks, first of all tomorrow’s home game against Fehérvár. “As a team, we want to take the next step and get the next win. We will focus on our game, think from shift to shift, and try to maintain consistency,” says assistant coach Florian Pedevilla.
In any case, the anticipation in the Haie camp is great, says head coach Ryan Kinasewich: “It’s obviously easier with a win under our belt, but we now have to build on these successes and create momentum. We know what awaits us against Fehérvár. They are a solid, good team. We will need a concentrated performance over 60 minutes to be able to survive.”
Lost first duel
The Haie lost their first meeting with the Hungarians away in September. In a thrilling game, Fehérvár ultimately won 5-4. The Haie had primarily missed the start and were already 3-0 down after just five and a half minutes. The cracks can’t afford such a slow start again tomorrow. Fehérvár is currently in eighth place in the table, with four wins and five defeats. Most recently, however, the red devils celebrated a 3-2 home win against champions Salzburg. The Hungarians are still struggling a bit on offense and in the power play this season. 21 goals scored are the second fewest in the league comparison; in the power play statistics, Fehérvár is in tenth place with a success rate of 17.86%, roughly in the same range as the Sharks.
