Jan Lattner is an integral part of the HC Innsbruck squad “Die Haie”. The Czech has been part of the Inntaler for many years – and if it is after him, it will continue to be the case in the future.
At the age of 35, Lattner already belongs to the old iron. In 2011 he made his debut at EBEL level, at that time in the dress of HC Orli Znjomo. In 2019 the move to the Tyrolean capital, where it has since become a fixed column-with the exception of a four-games, lending lending engagement at Herning Blue Fox in Denmark, at the end of the 2021/22 season.
The Crack, born in Znojmo, already played at EBEL/ICEHL level for 15 seasons, six of them for the sharks. 659 season games and 373 points are the key data of his previous career in the multinational league. Lattner is now going into his already seventh season with the sharks, 285 games for the HCI already have on his hump, so the 300 mark could be cracked this year.
“A call from Rob Pallin initiated everything”
At the beginning of the engagement, it could not be assumed that he couldn’t expect it for so long: “You really couldn’t expect it. A call from Rob Pallin initiated everything. And so Innsbruck has become much more at home,” Lattner told the
Kronen Zeitung.
At the HCI you want to work up in the table this year, but the last season also left traces at the veteran: “I have to admit that. After always feeling a great atmosphere in the Champions League a year earlier, we couldn’t get up.” With only 30 points, the sharks ended the expired season in last place, but the demands in Innsbruck are definitely higher.
“The playoff is always possible”
“The playoff! With these fans, who supported us even in the most difficult time, this is always possible,” says Lattner, who has already participated in the playoffs nine times during his time in the Icehl or Ebel. Now the focus is on the start of training and the first test games – a preparatory game against Regensburg is already on the program on Friday. What Lattner, who played himself into the hearts of the fans in Innsbruck, is not entirely excluded that one day he could also work as a coach at the sharks. Until then, there are still a lot of games on the program for the left -wing shooter – his contract will continue until the end of the upcoming season.
