The Haie finally want to score points in the fourth duel of the season with Pustertal. So far there have been three clear defeats against the wolves.
The 5-2 home win against VSV meant the Haie family went into the short Christmas break with a good feeling. The cracks had two days off, but are now focusing entirely on the intensive next few weeks. The Haie have eight games scheduled until January 10th. It starts tomorrow with the guest appearance of the HC Falkensteiner Pustertal Wölfe in the TIWAG Arena. The previous three season duels against Pustertal all ended in clear defeats for the Haie. That should finally change tomorrow, according to HCI head coach Ryan Kinasewich: “We have always played poorly against them. Tomorrow we want to come out of the locker room aggressively, control the game physically and the puck. We have to show real resistance.” The wolves should experience their blue Christmas miracle.
Kinasewich is happy with the latest developments in the club, the contract extensions of the coaches and some top performers: “We are very grateful that Günther Hanschitz and the club have given us the trust to move something in the right direction. We have now taken the first steps, more will follow.”
As mentioned, the record against the Wolves looks bleak for the HCI. 1:8, 2:6 and 2:7 – the last defeat was just over a week ago. However, some teams have recently shown that the Pusterers, who are strong this season, can currently be defeated. In the last ten games, the HCP suffered at least five defeats, including against Linz, Budapest and most recently at home against Vienna. Nevertheless, the guests are certainly to be favored, so just look at the table. The HCP in fourth place, with a comfortable 13 points lead over seventh place, the Haie at the bottom of the table, 15 points behind the pre-playoff places.
But: This season has shown that in this league anyone can beat anyone and anyone can lose to anyone.
