Graz99ers celebrate comeback victory over KAC!

In the absolute top game of the round, the Moser Medical Graz99ers turned a 0:2 into a 4:2 success over the KAC in front of their home crowd. This means that the Styrians are moving closer to the Red Jackets in the table – the gap is now just one point, with three games still remaining.

It was the expected showdown between the Moser Medical Graz99ers and the EC-KAC. In front of 4,126 fans in the sold-out Merkur Ice Stadium, the home team won 4-2, although they were still 0-2 behind until the 44th minute. This means that the 99ers are now only one point behind the leaders from Klagenfurt in the table – with three games still to play. In a highly entertaining game, Simeon Schwinger gave the guests the lead in the 8th minute. The KAC remained 1-0 until the 37th minute before Josh Teves increased the score to 2-0. At the beginning of the final section, there were many signs pointing to an away win and thus a preliminary decision in the battle for first place in the regular round. But Graz came out of the locker room feeling completely different: Marcus Vela first reduced the deficit in the 44th minute, before Chris Collins equalized in the 52nd minute. But that’s not all: New signing Kevin Conley shot the 99ers into the lead for the first time in just his third game in the 55th minute. The KAC tried everything again in the final minutes, had a power play and also took goalkeeper Sebastian Dahm off the ice. However, the equalizer was no longer possible – Josh Currie made everything clear with an empty net goal. For Graz it was the fifth win from the last six games and the third success in the fourth duel of the season with the KAC. For the Red Jackets, however, it was the first defeat after three wins in a row.
