From, over: Dominique Heinrich ends his career!

After over 1,000 games as a professional, Dominique Heinrich, one of the most successful Austrian ice hockey players in recent years, has announced his end of his career. Two days before his 35th birthday, the defender said goodbye to sporting retirement – but remains the ice hockey.

“I would still like to continue playing, but the priorities are changing with family,” said Heinrich in the ORF interview. His new task begins on September 14th: Then he starts as a TV expert at ORF1 with the transfer of the Salzburg game to the KAC-a rematch of the last final.

Born in Vienna, he celebrated his greatest success with Red Bull Salzburg, where he played from 2008 to 2023 and won the championship six times. After a short Sweden engagement (2016) and the career in Salzburg, he returned to the Vienna Capitals for two years.

In the national team, Heinrich was a fixed size since his debut in 2015. He took part in seven A World Championships. Most recently, he was part of the team, which for the first time since 1994 reached the quarter -finals. His transformed penalty in 2023 remain unforgettable to stay in the league against Hungary.

From autumn, Heinrich analyzes the game as a TV expert. However, he is looking forward to the future: “I can stop with a smile. I have experienced many nice moments and met great people.”
