Friborg must now confirm

Seeing the poster for these quarter -finals and a beautiful Zähringen derby, it was a safe bet that the duel was going to be tight between the 3rd and the 6th of the regular season. Well this first round led to 89 minutes of hockey to decide during the second extension, around 11:40 p.m., on a success by Lucas Wallmark.

Throughout the match, Friborg stole absolutely nothing. The dragons were particularly good in the second and third third. With 26 shots at 12 during these forty minutes of play, the men of Lars Leuenberger played just by not giving much to Bern. And if the first line, with an excellent Sandro Schmid author of three assists, made the difference, Friborg was also able to count on a goal from Kevin Nicolet, boarder of the fourth line.

“It was great to see Nicolet marking, did not fail to emphasize Lucas Wallmark. The fourth line was good, they are playing well at the moment.”

The Friborgers also logically praised the performance of their guardian at Reto Berra, but the last bulwark of the Dragons above all had to release the big game during the 29 minutes of extension. It was indeed more complicated for the Friborgers beyond the sixty minutes. The Bernese dominated during the additional time with 21 shots at 8 managing to put Gottéron under pressure. Only in the end, it was the “dzos” who took the best on the “moutzes”.

“Really hat to the guys, we showed that we had guts and Reto released a great match, said defender Dave Sutter after the game. Berne plays a lot on both sides of the ice and it’s always complicated to find the pace after two weeks of break.”

We especially saw an intelligent fribourg that has not looked for games too at risk. “The instructions were to play simple, put the Pucks at the bottom and Fore-Checker, explains Dave Sutter. We tried to calm things. We sometimes conceded prohibited clearances to find a little serenity and not panic.”

Scorer on 2-3 thanks to a powerful throw, Dave Sutter was able to erase the 2-2 where he accidentally lobed his goalkeeper by touching the Schild Puck. “The victory makes me forget the goal against my camp,” he specifies. “But whether it is me or another, we are just happy to bring the adrenaline of the goal for the whole team.”

Lars Leuenberger for his part took care not to shoot too much on the same men. And only the almost quadra Ryan Gunderson was entitled to more than thirty minutes of ice (33’07). Note similar to Bern where Lukas Klok was the only player to spend more than half an hour on the ice (34’17).

Because even if Friborg turns in mind, the path to the semi-finals is still very long. This is why it is essential to keep freshness for future deadlines. And the first takes place Sunday evening in Saint-Léonard for a second act which will not fail to be very lively.
