A point lost or a point gained? Trailing 3-1 after 40 minutes, Friborg found the strength to come back through Marcus Sörensen, who scored twice. But the Swede also committed a foul in overtime which allowed Davos to have a numerical superiority and finally win 39 seconds from penalties thanks to Kessler and while Sörensen was barely leaving the penalty box.
This defeat stagnates Fribourgeois who need to make points if they intend to get even closer to the top 6.
But that’s before Lars Leuenberger’s players should have made the difference. During the first third, Friborg should have taken advantage of the four minutes in numerical superiority to open the scoring. Unfortunately for Sprunger and his teammates, it was the Davosians who were the first to blacken the scoresheet by Tambellini (8th).
The Dragons had to wait until the 28th minute to level the score thanks to Mauro Dufner on a shot that Aeschlimann redirected into his goal. Only 88 seconds later, an error by the Friborg defense gave the 1-2 to Nussbaumer who cleared Berra’s top corner. A Berra who could have been more inspired eight seconds into the second break when Tambellini’s shot ended up deep just after an engagement won by the Graubünden.
But in the end, Friborg showed character, the most optimistic supporters will say.
