Friborg and Geneva beaten, Bienne and Ajoie victorious

For its second trip to Ticino in three days, Friborg did not experience the same success as against Lugano (5-1 victory). The fault lies with the combative Leventins. In the 9th, Tommaso De Luca worked perfectly in the zone, even managing to find Bürgler in the middle of four Friborg defenders who were too passive at the time.

The notion of “on the spot” is important, because the Dragons did not hide at the foot of the Gotthard. Proof of this is the number of shots after two thirds. After 40 minutes, Lars Leuenberger’s players led 21-5 (!) in this statistic. During the middle third, the Ticino only found Reto Berra’s target once.

The Leventins raised their heads in the third period and without his cross, Reto Berra would have capitulated a second time. Everything ultimately came down to penalties and that’s where Chris DiDomenico remembered the good memories of his former teammates by scoring two penalties in very good fashion. On the Friborg side, only Marcus Sörensen was able to deceive the excellent Gilles Senn. This point does not change much for Gottéron, still 8th (with 49 points) four units behind Zug, 6th.

Geneva cannot keep up. The Grenat were unable to repeat their performance from the last match against the Emmental Tigers against the Bernese Bears.

It must be recognized that Robert Mayer and Geneva were not accompanied by luck. The Servetti goalkeeper went to get the puck in the back of his net for the first time in the 11th following a deflected shot from Simon Moser. Three minutes later, it was a throw from Ritzmann that caught the man who had led the Eagles to the title in 2023.

The men of Yorick Treille and Rikard Franzen had to wait before being able to reduce the score. It was only on a baseball shot from Praplan that the reigning European champions were able to reduce the score to the 37th.

Berne was able to regain two steps ahead in an ultra-fast transition phase concluded by its top scorer Austin Czarnik in the 53rd. Hartikainen’s 3-2, which came 22 seconds from the third siren, came too late to allow the Servettians to afford a possible extension.

Biel ended a series of three consecutive losses. At home, the Zealanders got the better of Lugano 2-1 for a very important success.

The opening score fell in the 25th on a shot from Greco. The American from Biel benefited from a certain leniency from Schlegel in the circumstances. The Bianconeri responded in the 42nd with Fazzini.

Bienne would have deserved more than two minutes of numerical superiority in the 49th when David Aebischer put his cane in the face of a Biennois. But the Zealanders were finally able to pocket the three points thanks to Robin Grossmann, the hero of the evening. The defender found Schlegel’s top corner in the 58th minute.

In Porrentruy, Ajoie won with a football score against Langnau. A 1-0 victory thanks to a success from Jonathan Hazen in the 27th minute. This goal was enough for the happiness of the Jurassians, while Benjamin Conz went for his second shutout in three matches. The last rampart of the Ajoulots had already cleared Davos last week. The HCA is nine points behind Lugano.

Davos ended a series of six defeats by dismissing Rapperswil 5-3. In the last match of the evening, Kloten surprised Zurich 5-4 tab. Trailing 4-1, the Aviators found the resources to equalize in the 60th minute on a penalty from Ojamäki before taking the extra point on penalties.
