Former Villach crowd favorite Anton Karlsson is continuing his European career and signing with the Fife Flyers in the British EIHL. The 29-year-old Swede comes from third division club Falu IF, for whom he collected 16 points in 13 games this season.
Karlsson began his professional career in Sweden, came through Frölunda’s youth teams and then gained experience with several SHL and Allsvenskan clubs before moving to Austria for the first time in 2019. He made an immediate impact at EC VSV: 20 goals in his debut season quickly made him a fan favorite. After a year at AIK Stockholm, he returned to Villach in 2021 and became a key player there with 41 points in 50 games – especially in the playoffs, where he shone with 13 points.
This was followed by positions at Znojmo, in the Danish league and most recently at Stjernen (Norway). Now Karlsson is taking the next step and joining the Fife Flyers.
