Former VSV goalkeeper Tomi Karhunen has found a new employer. The now 36-year-old Finn remains loyal to the domestic top league and moves to HPK Hämeenlinna within the Finnish Liiga.
Karhunen has played for HIFK Helsinki and Kärpät Oulu in Finland over the past two seasons. The experienced goalie previously gained international experience in several top European leagues, including Sweden (Brynäs IF) and Switzerland (SC Bern).
Karhunen was also already under contract in the ICE Hockey League, where he played for EC VSV in 2021/22. But the Finn was unable to convince the Eagles. In 13 games his catch rate remained well below 90%. Now he is staying in the Finnish top league with his move to HPK!
