The Canadian defender and ex-VSV crack Simon Despres has a new employer. He is now continuing his career in North America.
In 2017, Defender celebrated its European debut at Slovan Bratislava in the KHL. After stations in Cologne, Oskarshamn and Berlin, Despres 2022 signed at Villacher SV in the Icehl. The former 1st Round Draft Pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins played 43 games for the Draustädter and collected 15 points, but could never really do justice to the high expectations.
After just one season in Carinthia, the paths separated and Despres switched to the British island. There he was under contract with the Nottingham Panthers before playing for Glasgow Clan the following year.
Now Despres returns to North America and joins the Saint-Hyacinthe Battalion in the Lash. There he becomes a teammate of ex-INFEL player Sebastien Sylvestre.
