Former ICEHL striker moves to LA Kings farm team!

Former ICEHL striker Wade Murphy is once again continuing his career in North America. The 32-year-old Canadian is moving to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, the ECHL farm team of the Los Angeles Kings, during the current season. The ECHL is considered the third highest professional league in North America, below the NHL and AHL.

Murphy is no stranger to Europe. In the 2021/22 season, the offensive player played for Olimpija Ljubljana in the ICE Hockey League (ICEHL). He impressed with quite good performances and recorded 27 scorer points in 45 games. Despite his solid season, Murphy did not receive a new contract in Slovenia.

The Canadian then returned to North America and joined the Idaho Steelheads in the ECHL for two seasons. For the 2024/25 season, Murphy took the step into Europe again and moved to Slovakia to HC Slovan Bratislava. However, there was only a short interlude before he moved on to HK Poprad within the league.

In the last year and a half, Murphy has been under contract again in the ECHL, and now the next change will follow during the current season: With his commitment to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, the former ICEHL striker has the chance to make a name for himself in the Los Angeles Kings’ farm team system and possibly move closer to the AHL again.
