Former ICEHL coach extends long-term contract with DEL club!

The Nuremberg Ice Tigers from the DEL and their head coach Mitch O’Keefe are relying on continuity and have extended the 41-year-old Canadian’s contract, which originally ran until 2026, by two more years until the end of the 2027/28 season. The Franconians thus ensure important planning security for the key position on the board at an early stage.

O’Keefe, who moved from HC Innsbruck to the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) in Nuremberg last season, had immediate success in his first DEL season. He led the Ice Tigers to eighth place in the table in the main round and ensured the team reached the playoff quarter-finals for the first time since 2019 with a win in the first playoff round against Schwenningen.

O’Keefe previously worked at HC Innsbruck in Austria for six years, where he initially worked as a goalkeeper and assistant coach and most recently as head coach.
