At the age of 33, Canadian William Pelletier is ending his active playing career, in which he also played for the Black Wings Linz for two seasons.
Pelletier, made his professional hockey debut after four years at the University of Norwich, playing eight games for the Rockford IceHogs in 2016-17. Until 2019/20 he played in the American Hockey League (AHL) and also for a few games in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL).
Move to Europe
In 2020, I jumped across the pond and to Linz. The Black Wings were Pelletier’s first stop outside of North America. The center forward played 86 games this season for the Upper Austrians and was able to record 21 goals and 44 assists. In his first season on the Danube, he finished third (38) in internal scoring behind Dragan Umicevic (64) and Brian Lebler (51). But the collaboration ended towards the end of the 2021/22 season.

Pelletier finished the 2021/22 season at HC Thurgau, where Daniel Woger and Patrick Spannring were also under contract at the time. The Canadian Thurgauer also completed the following season. Then he moved north to the Danish club SønderjyskE. In 2023/24 he was crowned champion with the club from Vojens. He could also lift the championship trophy with his last employer, the French club from Bordeaux – last season. Pelletier is retiring as the reigning champion.
