In the current season, five-time champion Peter Hochkofler has not played a single game for EC Red Bull Salzburg – until yesterday.
The native of Bozen has been part of the EC Red Bull Salzburg squad for many years. The versatile crack also passed through the junior stations on the Salzach – a red bull through and through.
So it was nice to see Hochkofler celebrate his comeback yesterday. A little over a week ago there were reports of a possible comeback, and Hochkofler played again against Ferencvaros Budapest. Salzburg’s 5-1 win was their seventh in a row. It seems as if the reigning champions have found their old strength. They recently made up some ground in the table and are in 6th place with 55 points, already 13 points ahead of 7th place. However, the Mozartstadters are already twelve points short of the top – but 3rd place is only a point away. Head coach Manny Viveiros, who was criticized a few weeks ago, also had a lot of praise for his team: “What we are playing at the moment is exactly our ice hockey. We have to continue like that.”
The Salzburg team will continue tomorrow, away from the Innsbrucker Haien. They want to end the year 2025 with a complete success.
