FTC-Telekom is the latest member of Win2day Ice Hockey League. The team from Budapest celebrated their first victory in front of home in front of their home audience against Innsbruck (6-2). With a total of four points, the Hungarians are currently in ninth place in the table. FTC General Manager Fodor Szabolcs is particularly pleased with the successful start of the season, for which success on Sunday meant a “great relief”.
On September 12th you started your adventure in the Ice Hockey League. How satisfied are you with the previous achievements of your team?
Fodor Szabolcs: “We started the season with the knowledge that it will be a year of apprenticeship. Nevertheless, we want to win every game, because this club is always in favor of playing. That is why we are very happy that we could celebrate the first success in the fourth game. The early minutes did not go against Villach – maybe we were a bit overwhelmed – but then we even increased and, according to statistics. In Vienna we were very close to the first victory.
How big was the relief on Sunday when your team against Innsbruck was able to celebrate the first victory?
Fodor Szabolcs: “It is a great relief to have brought the first victory so early in our debut season. This put a lot of pressure off our shoulders. Everyone had the example of FeiRvár in mind – they had to wait 17 games in their first year. have been done.
What are your goals for this season and what long -term goals do you pursue in the league?
Fodor Szabolcs: “From the beginning we have clarified: There is no pressure to deliver results and no concrete guidelines. The only thing we demand from the players is to give the maximum in every game and to want to win on ice with the will. This is the identity of this club. In our first season, it is enough to see this effort and this. We proudly ask the players in the future to tackle every game as if it were the last of their career. ”
How great is the joy in Budapest to be part of the Win2day Ice Hockey League, and how much are you looking forward to the duels with Fehérvár?
Fodor Szabolcs: “It is obvious that interest in the team is growing – especially with a view to the Hungarian derby. The fans are already looking forward to these games, and we know that they will take place in a very special atmosphere.”
There is an Italian double at the weekend. What do you think is possible against Bolzano and Puster Valley?
Fodor Szabolcs: “Our only requirement is simple: fight until the end and never give up. So far, the team has shown that – also away and against more powerful opponents – with full effort and effective performance. This weekend is again our goal again.”
