Fehervar AV19 manages to equalize the series again!

The fourth quarter-final duel between Hydro Fehervar AV19 and EC-KAC was only decided in extra time. There Fehervar captain Janos Hari made the decision in favor of the Hungarians.

After the Klagenfurt Tor Festival in the third game of the quarter-final series, Hydro Fehérvár AV19 presented itself much more solidly defensively in game four of the series. In a fairly even first third, with a slight increase in chances for the EC-KAC, the first section initially seemed to end goalless. Four seconds before the end of the first period, a strange situation arose: KAC defender Josh Teves took a brilliant shot from his own (!) blue line and the puck found its way – without being deflected – to make it 1-0.

In the second period, Fehérvár got into the encounter better – also thanks to some power plays. So it was a power play that led to 1-1: Sebastian Dahm was able to fend off Ol Einar Andersen’s blueliner – but when Rasmus Kulmala rebounded, the KAC goalie had no chance. Kirk Furey’s subsequent Coaches Challenge was unsuccessful.

In the final section, the hosts from Székesfehérvár presented for the first time: Max Gerlach successfully disrupted the KAC’s build-up to the game and then set up Akos Mihaly, who made it 2-1. For Mihaly it was only the third goal of the season, but already the second in the quarterfinals against KAC. A little more than five minutes before the end, Anze Kuralt was given a game-time penalty for “charging” – an attack with excessive speed. The KAC had the advantage for the last five minutes to equalize or even more. This came in the person of Jan Mursak just under 1.5 minutes before the supposed end.

So the decision had to be made in overtime. It took 7.5 minutes for the MET Arena in Székesfehérvár to finally shake. Roland Kiss served Janos Hári in the slot, who clearly overtook Sebastian Dahm and ensured the 3:2 decision and thus the 2:2 series equalizer. Game #5 of the series follows on Monday – LIVE on ORF Sport+.
