Clemens Unterweger’s contract with EC-KAC expires at the end of the season, which brings the future of a defender for the Red Jackets into focus.
“The contract negotiations are ongoing,” the defender told the “Kronen Zeitung”. A decision is therefore still open. Unterweger has been with Klagenfurt since the 2018/19 season and has been a fixture in the defense ever since. The 33-year-old from Lienz was previously active for the Graz99ers for several years before moving to the Carinthian state capital and quickly became an important support there.
In the current season, Unterweger even took over the “C” on his chest after captain Thomas Hundertpfund was unavailable, thereby confirming his importance within the team. At the beginning of the season, Unterweger had already been linked with a possible move back to Graz.
