Exports: Young Austro crack faces contract extension in Sweden!

Carinthian-born Johannes Neumann has been storming in Sweden since 2022. That is unlikely to change in the future, as the attacker is about to extend his contract.

After playing for the KAC U18s in 2021/22, Neumann decided to move to Sweden. He has been playing for the traditional club Rögle BK since the 2022/23 season – Marco Kasper also continued to develop there. In 2924/25 he made his first appearance for the SHL club’s fighting team, and this year he had the chance to assert himself in three games. However, he spent most of the current season in the U20 team, where he plays an important role as assistant captain – he was able to collect 19 points in 31 games, and now the playoffs await.

National team debut in Oslo

Thanks to his strong performances at his club, he was called up to the national team for the first time. Neumann also scored a goal at the tournament in Oslo: “It was a dream come true for me. Bernd Wolf even gave me the goal puck after the match – it now has a place of honor in my room on the dresser in Sweden,” Neumann told the “Crown newspaper“.

Neumann is satisfied with his current performance, but also sees room for improvement: “I play a lot, the performance is good. I just have to be more cold-blooded in front of the goal. The chances of scoring more goals are there.” Now the Austro-Export is heading to the playoffs: the Malmö Redhawks are waiting on Saturday. “It would be nice to win the crown. I’m still missing a title here in Sweden.”

ICE teams show interest, but return is not yet an issue

What happens after the season? Neumann is also expected to play for Rögle BK in 2026/27: “The plan is for me to stay and the contract to be extended. I will train with the team in the summer and will then be loaned out to the 2nd league.” Remarkable: two ICEHL clubs are also said to have expressed interest in the youngster, but a return home is not yet an issue.
