Canadian defender Nick Mattinen has extended his contract in Germany, which originally ran until the end of the season, beyond the current season. The former VSV crack impresses with strong performances!
Mattinen, who moved to Mannheim from the Toronto Maple Leafs organization last summer, continues his outstanding European seasons seamlessly. In the current season, the 27-year-old is playing big again: he has made impressive appearances in 36 appearances so far 35 scorer pointsincluding 17 goals

Mattinen had already caused a sensation in the DEL in the 2023/24 season when he scored 46 points in 52 games with the Straubing Tigers and was named both “Defender of the Year” and “Player of the Year”. His time at EC VSV in the 2022/23 season, in which he recorded 43 points in 51 games, also underlined his enormous offensive quality from the blue line.
After a short detour to North America with 22 AHL games for the Toronto Marlies, Mattinen has finally arrived in Mannheim.
