Ex-KAC captain Thomas Koch starts a new career as a teacher!

After an impressive career with ten championship titles and 1,187 appearances in Austria’s top league, ex-KAC and Salzburg professional Thomas Koch is starting a completely new chapter – from Monday the 42-year-old will no longer be on the ice, but in front of the class.

The former KAC captain will work as a specialist teacher for English and fitness support at the technical vocational school 2 in Klagenfurt. As a career changer, Koch prevailed in a selection process with around 100 applicants. In parallel to teaching, he completes pedagogical training with a bachelor’s degree.

“I wanted to change my career again. English was always the language in the dressing room, and I experienced everything in sport,” said Koch, who worked as a real estate agent and columnist after his active career, to the “Kronen Zeitung”.

Cijan already has teaching experience

Alex Cijan has already taken a similar path. The 31-year-old, also a former KAC and Salzburg striker, teaches sports at HAK 1 Klagenfurt and works there as a top sports coordinator. He works closely with clubs such as the KAC, the WAC and Austria Klagenfurt.

In addition to his teaching work, Cijan is also involved with the KAC youth team as an assistant coach in the U11 to U13 age groups.
