Despite KAC Shutout victory-two injured more in the red jackets!

The EC-KAC ended the pre-season with a 3-0 win against Starbulls Rosenheim from the DEL, but paid the victory with injuries by Matt Fraser and Tobias Sablattnig.

First third

In a first, hidden Hanna shot from the high slot, the Klagenfurt defensive cleared the promising rebound (4th), followed a power play for the Starbulls: The puck, jumped happily to him, was hammered directly onto the box by Ville Järveläinen, but sailed past this (5th). After that, there were only half chances on both sides, in the first overpowering game for the red jackets, Goalie Oskar Autio held as dense with a deflected Murray bluelin as as against Mario Kempe from the left allocation circle (16.).

Sebastian Dahm steered the end of Dominik Tiffels from the right wing with the blocker past the long rod (19th) before the best KAC chance in the opening third showed: Jan Muršak typed his own blue line in the run of Luka Gomboc, who decided his solo from a half-left position, but with his attempt at the shoulder of the Rosenheimer Stand failed (20th).

Second third

In the second section, the Kempe deflection of a Murray shot flew over the housing (22nd), on the opposite side a diagonal pass reached from the baseline from Järveläinen on the long post, Dahm parried strongly after lateral movement (26.). The Dane then also defused Lukas Laub (28th), with a “two-on-one” attack, Sarault’s cross pass came too late (29th). Simeon Schwinger’s conclusion of a counterattack could just be deflected by Autio with the stick (34th), then Matt Fraser injured himself so that he had to be supported by the ice (37th).

The red jackets did not react shocked, but with the lead goal: Jan Muršak sent Luka Gomboc on the journey, who pushed the puck with the backhand on Autios and the Muršak, which had been replaced, dusted to 1-0 (38.). After a sharp Simovic degree from the left from the left and Waschnig, the rebound on the crease barely (39th), Gomboc came too late for a fault in the long post for a fault (40th).

Third third

After a one -carer from Mathias from Fry had just flown past the housing (42nd), Bayern came to their second overpowering game. However, the EC-KAC used this for a shorthanded goal: Simeon Schwinger blocked Stark, Jan Muršak went over to the right into the “two-on-one” counterattack and completed it with a rich wrist shot under the crossbar itself (45.). Dahm denied Jannik Stein (47th), which crossed the goal area, Schwinger wiped in a promising position over a Gomboc-Querpass (49.). The red jackets now fully took command,

Thomas Hundelertpfund from an acute angle and Mathias from with a Ontimer-Kracher narrowly missed the goal (51st each). Mario Kempe was stopped by Goalie Autio after passing Murray (52nd) and from (55th). In a phase of numerical inferiority, Tobias Sablattnig also resigned from the lawsuits (58th). Mathias From, whose Empty Net attempt from the neutral zone was still deflected by an opponent to the mesh (60th) was concluded.

Post Game comment from Assistant Coach David Fischer:

“A bitter sweet day. To see how Matt injured himself was an unpleasant memory of how mean our sport could be. How the team reacted together and showed a lot of team spirit was very nice. How the shots were blocked, how the boys worked for each other, that also makes you a little emotionally. Kempe was a welcome reinforcement in the pre-season in the group, which was seen today.
