The EK Die Zeller Eisbären showed an impressive performance on Saturday and celebrated a clear 7-0 away win at EC Bregenzerwald. Salzburg dominated the game from the start, created numerous chances and left their opponents no opportunities for long stretches. Goalie Alexander Schmidt made no mistakes and secured a shutout with a strong performance.
Despite seven missing players – including loans to VSV – the Eisbären appeared dominant from the first minute. Peter Putnik scored in the third minute after a remarkable combination via Bohdan Tomazevic and Alexander Lahoda to make it 1-0. A little later Philipp Reiner increased the score to 2-0. Even in the middle section, Zell am See remained clearly the better team: Paul Schmid made it 3-0, before a convincing defensive performance and five more goals in the final third increased the result.
Max Wilfan and Fredrik Widen each scored into the empty net before Nathan Huard and Alexander Lahoda made the final score 7-0. Zell am See not only celebrated its biggest win of the season, but also stopped the winning streak of EC Bregenzerwald, which had previously won six games in a row.
