For Cole Moberg the ICEHL chapter is finished. The defender, who played for HC Innsbruck this season, was never able to live up to expectations and is now leaving Europe again.
Moberg had come to Tyrol with advance praise. After all, the Canadian was once by the Chicago Blackhawks drafted and was considered a player with great development potential. But in the ICE Hockey League the hoped-for breakthrough failed to materialize.
The numbers speak for themselves: in 47 games, the defender only managed a single goal and had a sobering plus/minus balance of -31. Moberg repeatedly revealed weaknesses, especially defensively. He was unable to give HC Innsbruck the stability he had hoped for in defense.
After the Sharks’ season ends, the 25-year-old is now heading back to North America. Moberg signed there ECHL at the Florida Everblades a contract for the rest of the season.
