At yesterday’s league meeting, among other things, the expansion of the league to include a club from Milan was discussed. There probably won’t be a decision about admission for some time.
The club representatives and the ICEHL Executive Board met yesterday in Villach for the “General Meeting”. A key point of discussion was the application of a Milan club to the ICEHL.
Behind this application is the South Tyrolean entrepreneur Christof Leitner, who runs the company “realice” and was responsible, among other things, for the Olympic ice surfaces, as the “Kronen Zeitung” reports.
Decision only in June?
The league fundamentally supports the application because it expects additional income that will benefit the clubs. But it could still be a while before a decision is made. The ICEHL announced that after yesterday’s presentation the admission process will begin and a decision will be made at the general meeting in June at the latest. Ultimately it is up to the clubs that have to agree to be accepted.
