Crazy: KAC youngsters secure their fourth title!

Fourth title for the EC KAC youngsters this season. After the U11, U13 and U20, the U15 of the EC KAC also secured the 2026 championship crown. The young red jackets won 3-0 in the all-important fifth final game against the Okanagan Hockey Academy/Lower Austria Stars syndicate in the Heidi-Horten-Arena, thus securing a 3-2 victory in the best-of-five series and are Austrian champions in the ÖEHV U15 Championship.

The exciting best-of-five series between the U15 of the EC KAC and the Okanagan Hockey Academy/Lower Austria Stars syndicate reached its showdown on Wednesday in the Heidi-Horten-Arena in Klagenfurt with the all-important fifth match. The Lower Austrians won the first duel in the Carinthian state capital 3-2, with a 2-1 after extra time the young red jackets were able to make it 1-1 in the series.

After the 5:3 victory in the first meeting in St. Pölten, the KAC had the first match puck, but the syndicate hit back on Sunday with a narrow 4:3 and forced the playoff. The KAC was ahead 1-0 after just over ten minutes thanks to a goal from Max Pontsch-Müller (11th). In the second third, Emil Jahn increased the lead to 2-0 for the hosts (27th).

With the two-goal lead for Klagenfurt, high tension was guaranteed for the final part of the game. The Lower Austrians had the majority there, but the guests were unable to score in this phase of numerical superiority. The KAC then played two power plays in a row, but failed to make the preliminary decision. With another advantage, Marvin Kralj made it 3-0 64 seconds before the end (59th).

In the end, KAC keeper Valentin Fradler managed a shutout, the U15 of the EC KAC won 3-0, thus securing the 3-2 victory in the best-of-five series and are Austrian champions of the ÖEHV U15 Championship 2025/2026. EC iDM Heat Pumps VSV took third place, winning the overall score in Champions Hockey League mode against HC TIWAG Innsbruck – Die Haie with 13:9 (5:3 and 8:6).
