Despite the ongoing tense personnel situation, the EC-KAC wants to demonstrate its strong form, which was reflected in point wins in 15 of the last 16 games, today away to the Black Wings Linz.
The EC-KAC can currently look back on a streak of four wins in a row; on Friday evening the Red Jackets won at home against Fehérvár AV19 3-2 after extra time. In their five league games this month, which lasted a total of 307:46 minutes, the Klagenfurt team were behind only once (and for 20:33 minutes). With the two points scored against the Hungarians, the EC-KAC extended its lead in the table and is currently four points ahead of the Graz99ers.
Things have gone very well for the Red and White away from home so far this season, with 41 points already scored in away games, almost 20 more than the average of the twelve competitors (21.3). This good record was largely due to the Red Jackets’ defensive stability: Since the devastating 6-9 defeat in Innsbruck at the end of November, they have only conceded a total of eleven goals in eight games on foreign ice (while scoring 29 goals themselves).
Continue with the last contingent
The personnel situation at EC-KAC remains tense: As is well known, the season has ended early for captain Thomas Hundertpfund, and David Maier and Luka Gomboc will not return to the lineup before the long Olympic break. Not in Linz, but in the next two weeks the comebacks of Josh Teves (back in light off-ice training), Jesper Jensen Aabo and Jordan Murray (both back in careful ice training) and Oliver Lam could follow.
In addition to the seven fixed failures, David Waschnig, who blocked a powerful shot against Fehérvár AV19 and whose possible injury is only being evaluated in detail, as well as Fabian Hochegger, who had to stop training on Saturday due to illness, are also shaky for today’s game in Upper Austria. As things stand, both strikers fall into the “Game Day Decisions” category.
