Court hearing for roof damage to Icehl home!

The construction defects on the Brunecker Intercable Arena have legal consequences: A first trial is to take place in August. The background is an application by Stadtwerke Bruneck for a preliminary technical evidence that was already brought in in July 2025.

How
Rainews Reported, the defects – including a leaky roof, bent fire protection doors, damage to glass facades and crumbling concrete in the area of ice surfaces – have been formally complained about at the Unionbau General company since November 2024. Despite repeated requests, the company did not take a satisfactory steps to remedy, emphasized Stadtwerke general director Gustav Mischi in a broadcast.

The situation had already worsened at the beginning of August: the “South Tyrolean daily Dolomites” reported on a necessary, elaborate renovation of the roof, which has serious damage a few years after the opening. The first problems had occurred after violent thunderstorms two years ago, but was only temporarily remedied at the time.

The use of the hall is not directly at risk – both the president of “Bruneck Aktiv GmbH”, Alfred Valentin and Mayor Bruno Wolf emphasize that the Intercable Arena is indispensable for the community. Nevertheless, the positive public perception of the project is threatened by the continuing problems.

The situation has so far had no effect for the ice hockey association HC Puster Valley, whose home is the arena: According to club president Jochen Schenk, the game is not at risk, the hall can be used without restrictions.

With the upcoming court hearing, the participants now expect a clear clarification of the responsibilities and a binding solution for the construction defects, according to Peter Rech, President of Stadtwerke Bruneck.
