Danish goalkeeper Sebastian Dahm has already completed no less than eight seasons in the win2day ICE Hockey League – six of them in the EC-KAC uniform. Further collaboration seems possible, but there is a problem with one detail.
Dahm played his first two seasons in the multinational league with the Moser Medical Graz99ers and was able to play 47 games for his employer. After three years in the DEL, where he played for Iserlohn and Berlin, he returned to the ICEHL.
Important support between the posts
Dahm has been guarding the Red Jackets’ goal since 2020 and has won 144 games this season. Statistically speaking, the now 39-year-old delivered his best season in 2023/24, when he conceded an average of just 1.65 goals in 29 regular season games and had a catch rate of 93.2%. With the red jackets he was crowned champion once and made it to the final two more times.
Competition from within our own ranks
Remarkable: KAC goalie Florian Vorauer was even able to beat Dahm’s statistics this year – even though the 26-year-old got significantly fewer appearances, his stats read quite well. A goals conceded average of 2.02 compares to Dahm’s 2.32. When it comes to catch rates, Vorauer is also clearly ahead with 92.7%. What’s more, the Klagenfurt native only lost two of his 14 appearances.
Dahm wants to stay for the “longer term”.
At 39 years old, Sebastian Dahm already has a lot of ice hockey under his belt. Nevertheless, the Danish national goalkeeper is not tired in the slightest and would like to extend his stay with the Carinthians for another two years – that’s what the “Crown newspaper“The Red Jackets are more likely to think about further collaboration until the end of the 2026/27 season.
Whether and how the two sides ultimately reach an agreement remains to be seen. The fact is: with Florian Vorauer, the KAC definitely already has a legitimate successor for Dahm in its own squad.
