Important games in the Champions Hockey League are scheduled for Wednesday for EC Red Bull Salzburg, EC-KAC and HCB Südtirol Alperia. The three representatives of the win2day ICE Hockey League still have a good chance of reaching the round of 16 after two wins and two defeats each.
EC Red Bull Salzburg plays away against the Danish champions Odense Bulldogs on Wednesday. The Red Bulls are currently in 13th place; Odense is ranked 22nd after one win and three defeats. Salzburg’s wins came against GKS Tychy and Bremerhaven, but there were no points against Finnish teams. The Red Bulls are currently third in the win2day ICE Hockey League and have recently suffered two defeats. They continue to compete with many injury-related absences, although new signing Brandon Coe may make his first appearance. It remains to be seen whether Troy Bourke will play.
KAC plays its last home game
The EC-KAC – like Salzburg, currently in the top 16 – will play its last home game of the CHL group phase against the Polish champions GKS Tychy. After victories against Germany’s (Berlin) and Denmark’s champions, Klagenfurt has the chance to take a big step towards the round of 16. Jordan Murray returns to the lineup, while four regular players (David Maier, Jan Muršak, Fabian Hochegger, Mario Kempe) are out. Young talents like Filip Simovic (18) and Johannes Dobrovolny (17) are again in the squad.
Bolzano welcomes Ingolstadt
HCB Südtirol Alperia welcomes ERC Ingolstadt. The “Foxes” are currently in 17th place with five points and need more points to maintain their chances of promotion. After six league wins in a row, they are confident, most recently with a strong comeback against Olimpija. Coach Kurt Kleinendorst has to do without defenders Philip Samuelsson and Dylan Di Perna as well as striker Bryce Misley. Gianluca Vallini could make his CHL debut in goal – he impressed in the league with a 98.7% catch rate and two shutouts in three games.
