EC Red Bull Salzburg clearly lost the first leg of the round of 16 at PENNY DEL Club ERC Ingolstadt 2:6. The second leg will take place on November 17th in Salzburg.
EC Red Bull Salzburg struggled from the start in Ingolstadt and quickly fell behind after early offensive actions from the home side. Although Tyler Lewington managed to equalize after a deflected shot, Ingolstadt followed up with two quick goals before the first break.
In the second third, Salzburg showed clear signs of life, increased the pressure and created several good opportunities. However, an unfortunate timing for the hosts’ 1:4 power play stopped the momentum.
After Lukas Hörl connected again at the beginning of the final third, Ingolstadt immediately responded. The Red Bulls couldn’t fight back and were ultimately defeated 6-2. The Red Bulls therefore need at least a four-goal difference in the second leg on November 19th in Salzburg in order to maintain their chance of promotion.
