The Red Bulls want to gain a good starting position from the first leg for the second leg on November 19th in Salzburg. After a short international break – which went into it with just one point from the last three ICE games – head coach Manny Viveiros’ team worked specifically on improvements.
Salzburg qualified eleventh in the CHL group phase with wins against Tychy, Bremerhaven and Berlin. Ingolstadt, on the other hand, impressed with victories against Zug, Lausanne, Bozen and Odense and recently presented itself in strong form in the PENNY DEL – including clear victories against Cologne (10:3) and Frankfurt (8:0).
The Red Bulls’ top scorer is Travis St. Denis with six goals, followed by Michael Raffl, Benjamin Nissner, Connor Corcoran and Lucas Thaler (five each). For the hosts, North American imports Riley Barber (14 goals) and Myles Powell (9) lead the scoring. Devante Stephens, an important defender, could make his comeback after a four-week break. Striker Peter Hochkofler, among others, will still be missing after an operation.
The first leg will take place in the Saturn Arena Ingolstadt (4,591 seats) and will be broadcast LIVE on ORF-ON.
CHL | Playoff mode
In the playoff round of 16 of the best 16 teams after the regular season, 1st plays against 16th, 2nd against 15th, etc. This results in the playoff tree up to the final. The playoff matches are decided on a return leg, with the score being added up. If the goal difference is equal after the second leg, a 10-minute extra time follows with 3 field players and a goalkeeper. If extra time does not bring a decision, a penalty shootout follows with five shooters per team. Then alternately until a decision is made, if necessary. Only the final is decided in an all-important game.
