EC Red Bull Salzburg will host ERC Ingolstadt at home in the Champions Hockey League on Wednesday for the second leg of the playoff round of 16 (7:15 p.m., ORF Sport+). The Red Bulls lost the first leg 6-2 in Ingolstadt a week ago and would need to gain four goals to force extra time.
EC Red Bull Salzburg faces an enormously difficult task. In the second leg of the round of 16 of the Champions Hockey League, the Mozartstadters have to make up a 2:6 deficit. The Red Bulls are still confident after winning 4-1 at home against Székesfehérvár in the last home game of the win2day ICE Hockey League, ending a long dry spell and playing really well again. Defender Connor Corcoran will also be back in the second leg against Ingolstadt, while convalescents Ali Wukovits, Peter Hochkofler, Philipp Wimmer and Lukas Schreier are still missing.
The ERC Ingolstadt team is one of the most offensive teams in the top European leagues. Only Olimpija Ljubljana scores more goals in the championship. The Red Bulls are one of the strongest defensive teams in the win2day ICE Hockey League. In order to make it to the quarter-finals, the Red Bulls need a brilliant day both offensively and defensively.
