What an ice hockey evening in the Carinthian Lower House! The Althofen Spartans and Völkermarkt delivered a completely crazy offensive spectacle in Division II East, which can already be considered one of the highest-scoring games of the season. In the end, the Spartans prevailed 14:13 after overtime – in a game in which the scoreboard flashed almost every two minutes.
Ex-professionals provide a Lower House show
Even before the first face-off it was clear: There are some well-known names on the ice here. Althofen competed with former KAC cracks Manuel Geier and Markus Pirmann, among others, with ex-team defender Martin Schumnig even missing. But Völkermarkt also made a prominent appearance – with ex-professionals Layne Viveiros, Daniel Wachter and Daniel Ban.
And it was precisely these names that caused a real fireworks display. After the first third the home team led 6:4, after 60 minutes the score was an incredible 13:13. The decision was only made in overtime – by Stefan Schumnig, the younger brother of the missing Martin.
Pirmann with 8 goals – three players with 11 points!
However, the man of the evening was clear: Markus Pirmann! The two-time KAC champion, who also wore the national team jersey nine times, showed once again that he has lost none of his dangerousness. Pirmann scored 8 goals and provided 3 assists – also an incredible 11 scorer points.
But he wasn’t the only one with this brand. Völkermarkt’s Daniel Wachter shone with 6 goals and 5 assists, while Daniel Ban also scored 11 points with 3 goals and 8 assists.
Goals, speed, spectacle – Lower House at its best
Fans who were there in Althofen will not soon forget this match. 27 goals, prominent names, a dramatic overtime and three players with double-digit scorers – this game simply had everything that defines ice hockey in its wildest form – HERE are the statistics for the game
Statement from Spartans chairman Ferid Pjanic: “A game that rarely happens! A result that is reminiscent of handball! Many thanks to the VST for the extremely fair game! Unfortunately, we had to replace two goalkeepers and almost two lines today due to illness and hope that we can compete fully again next week. The important thing is that we wrote in and everything else will become apparent!”
