Capitals head coach Constantine: “We definitely could have won!”

The Vienna Capitals lost 2-1 after overtime against second-placed HC Falkensteiner Pustertal on Friday evening. Carter Souch gives the Viennese the lead in the ninth minute.

An unfortunate deflected shot by Luca Zanatta hits Caps goalie Evan Cowley to equalize (18th). After two goalless periods, the decision was made in overtime. Leon Wallner hits the crossbar in the 63rd minute, and Henry Bowlby ensures the Wolves’ home win with 26 seconds left (65th). The Capitals, who took a point from Bruneck, will be guests at HCB Südtirol Alperia on Sunday (4 p.m.).

Statement Kevin Constantine, head coach of the Vienna Capitals

“I think we played a good away game. Scoring the first goal helped us, it helped us find our way into the game better, even though we conceded the equalizer in the first third. It would have been nice if the power play had struck, we had really good chances, especially in the third third. The goalkeepers of both teams had a solid evening. We had to kill a few penalties during the game, which we did really well.

Both teams had good opportunities in overtime. One or two of our players will still be thinking about the missed opportunity to make a decision tomorrow. We definitely could have won. We have to find a way to win away games. That was something we planned to do today. We also did everything we could to get an away win. Today it was one point, but we have to find ways to make it three in the future.”
