The Steinbach Black Wings also show a strong appearance against the Czech title candidate from Liberec. Although the Upper Austrians keep up with the high pace of the tigers, they are subject to 1: 3 in front of a home crowd. Emil Romig scored his second goal in the second match.
The second pre-season match of the season took place on Tuesday. The Czech extra league Bílí Tygři Liberec was a guest in Linz AG Eisarena. As in the duel against the Kassel Huskies last week, Rasmus Tirrons led the team onto the ice. The Stahlstadt residents already won the first chance in the early minute. Niklas Würschl brought a strong pass into the middle from the right, but Graham Knott narrowly missed the puck. A little later, Brian Lebler pulled towards the goal, but only scored teammates Luka Maver, who lurked in front of the opposing box. The guests from Liberec were dangerous for the first time by Marek Zachar, whose shot just missed the goal. Shortly afterwards, Rasmus Tirrons prevented a big chance with a strong parade when Servac Petrovsky and Jaroslav Vlach combined with a double pass through the defense. After the Linzer dictated the game in the first few minutes, the white tigers got better and better in the course of the third. The Stahlstadt residents also weakened due to a two-minute penalty against Graham Knott due to legs. In the outnumber, however, the home side consistently defended and did not allow any significant opportunities. After a punishment for Kristpaps Zile, the Steinbach Black Wings came to their first power play. Logan Roe placed on Graham Knott, who pulled out of the middle, but the puck only hit the crossbar. The penalty periods continued to piling up and Greg Moro had to go to the bench for two minutes. This time the guests used their power play. Jaromir Perez sank the puck from the right to 1-0 lead (15th minute). The Upper Austrians tried to set an offensive accent again after the goal, but Liberec kept control. Shortly before the third break, the Linzer pushed again for the equalization. Greg Moro Castle from a central position, but the puck was deflected by an opponent and sailed over the goal. With a narrow 1-0 lead for the guests, we finally went into the first break
Liberec fights for leadership
In the second section, the guests caught a lightning start. Denis Zeman put on Radim Simek, who used left into the short corner to 2: 0 (22nd minute). Shortly afterwards, the scorer had to go into the cool box for two minutes and gave the Stahlstädters their second power play. The Upper Austrians used this ice cold. Andi Kristler fired the puck towards the gate, the rebound landed in front of the feet of Emilio Romig, who shortened to 1: 2 (25th minute). The Steinbach Black Wings got the upswing through the goal and immediately pushed for the equalization. Kristler placed exemplary on Gerd Kragl, who actually only had to insert, but did not make the puck optimally and slept past the goal. A few minutes later, the Liberec guests had too many players on the ice, and Martin Rysavy had to serve the punishment. In the majority, Niklas Würschl was the first to try it, but failed due to Petr Kvaca, who closed the short corner. Shortly before the punishment, Brian Lebler pulled off the distance, but his shot came too centrally and did not make a trouble to the opposing goalie. The white tigers then quickly found their game again and set offensive accents. Initially, Rasmus prevented Tirrons even worse against Jaromir Perez, shortly afterwards Jaroslav Vlach restored the two-goal lead with a shot from the left (35 minute). With a 3-1 lead for the Czechs, we went into the second break.
T goalless final third
In the last section, too, Liberec acted game -determining from the start, but there were initially no clear chances. Jaroslav Vlach tried it from the right, but Rasmus Tirrons kept his team in the game with a strong reflex. A little later, the Linz had outnumbered after Brian Lebler had to pause for two minutes because of a croscheck. However, the defense of the home side consistently defended and did not let the guests come dangerously in front of Tirronen’s box. Shortly afterwards, the white tigers also had to act outnumbered. Jaromir Pytlik moved to the penalty bench because of legs. After both teams were complete again, Brian Lebler introduced the next attack. He moved into one-on-one on the right and came to a conclusion, which, however, was too central to create real goal. In direct return, Ondrej Prochazka fired on the Linz goal from a short distance, but Tirrons tore up his arm in lightning speed and thwarted another goal. Three minutes before the end, head coach Philipp Lukas took his goalie off the ice in favor of an additional field player. But the guests didn’t let anything burn and brought their leadership safely over time.
The next home game will increase next Friday, August 22, 2025. The Hockey Club Nitra is a guest at the lower Danube region. Tickets are available online at Tickets.blackwings.at and on the evening box.
