Black Wings Linz hire Canadian Powerforward!

The Steinbach Black Wings Linz found their last piece of the puzzle for the upcoming season. With Travis Barron, the Upper Austrians hire a physically present scorer in the best age who can look back on the experience of over 300 AHL games.

Found the last piece of the puzzle

The search for the last still open place in the squad for the 2025/26 season has been successfully completed. The Linzer close the gap in attack with the Canadian Travis Barron. The 27-year-old’s profile combines two essential properties that played a central role in the Stahlstädter requirement profile: physical presence and constant scoring. With more than 300 AHL inserts, the Powerforward stands for reliability on the offensive. In all of his four complete seasons in the second highest North American league, he scored an average of over 20 points per season. At the Tucson Roadrunners, the left -wing shooter established itself as a reliable size and led the team as Assistant Captain last season. Barron previously demonstrated its versatility in 75 Echl games for the Utah Grizzlies and the Colorado Eagles. During this period he came to 51 direct goal participations (21 hits) – a point cut of 0.68 per game. In 2017/18 he also won the Kelly Cup with the Eagles.

Physically strong

In addition to his urge to offend, it is above all his physical attributes – 186 centimeters height and 93 kilograms of fighting weight – with which Barron acts uncompromisingly and does not shy away from dropping the gloves. In total, the attacker collected 358 minutes of penalty in the AHL alone. His passion and assertiveness brought him the 191st Pick in the NHL draft through the Colorado Avalanche in 2016. Although he was previously denied in the regular NHL season, the neo-linzer ran for the newly founded Utah Hockey Club in the past pre-season-and promptly convinced with a dominant fight against the Los Angeles Kings.

From now on, Travis Barron puts his playful and physical presence into the service of the Steinbach Black Wings Linz. The new number 26 has already arrived in the steel city and briefly gets into team training.

Voices:

The search was not easy, because we wanted to make sure that we fill this key position in the best possible way according to our ideas. It is all the more pleased that we have found someone with Travis Barron who has exactly the skills that our collective has so far been missing: physical presence and at the same time outstanding playful qualities. This combination is rare – but Travis has proven in North America for years that it combines exactly these properties. We are convinced that it also suits us very well and will help our team.

Head coach Philipp Lukas

Playing in Europe for the first time is of course a change for me. But the team received me with open arms at our first encounter – and I immediately felt the strong cohesion in the cabin. I can’t wait to get started and will give everything to make this city and this organization proud.
