Einsergoalie Rasmus Tirronen carries a big burden. The 35-year-old Finn has already played a lot, which is also reflected in his statistics. “Of course you look at numbers – but they don’t say everything,” emphasizes Tirronen to the “Kronen Zeitung”. He sees himself at a good level, especially when there are clear chances to score: “My game is there. It’s often just about little things. “People internally are convinced that Tirronen can give the team stability again. “I can give the team the chance to win games,” says the Finn confidently.
Backup Thomas Höneckl also had a difficult time this year. Injuries, illnesses and little match practice prevented his rhythm – his statistics therefore remained well below expectations. Höneckl sees the numbers differently: Many shots from safe zones would improve the rate, but would have little meaning.
Today the next opportunity to turn the trend awaits at HC Pustertal. Tirronen knows what it takes now: “Sometimes a dirty win is enough – it’s important that we gain self-confidence away from home.”
