The negative series of the Steinbach Black Wings Linz continues. The hoped-for turnaround did not materialize in Budapest either. Despite great efforts and a late fightback, the Linzer Ferencváros had to admit defeat 2:3 – it was already their fifth away defeat in a row.
“We have to score – and quickly,” emphasized head coach Philipp Lukas to the “Oberösterreichische Nachrichten”, who risked everything shortly before the end and took goalkeeper Rasmus Tirronen off the ice in favor of a sixth skater. The courage was at least partially rewarded: Julian Pusnik (59th) and Stefan Gaffal (60th) reduced the score to 2:3 in the final phase. “The boys never gave up, at least that’s positive,” said Lukas.
The next away game is scheduled for Sunday – at HC Pustertal in Bruneck. Lukas still remains confident: “The will is definitely there to turn things around. We have to find ways that will take us forward.”
