The Steinbach Black Wings Linz celebrated an important victory in the direct top 10 duel with FTC-Telekom. The Upper Austrians appeared dangerous from the start, created opportunities and made it 2-0 with goals from Shawn St-Amant and Luka Maver in the first six minutes. The Linz team increased their lead to 3-0 in the first section before the guests from Budapest were able to score for the first time. In the second period, Andreas Kristler restored the three-goal lead and thus secured the preliminary decision. The Black Wings ultimately prevailed 5-1 and thus gained a 5-point cushion over eleventh-placed Villach, who, however, played two fewer games. FTC-Telekom is still three points ahead of the EC VSV.
