Bad news for Düsseldorf and coach Harry Lange: DEG has to do without two of its most important offensive players at the end of the season. As the club announced, both former ICEHL players Yushiroh Hirano and Lucas Lessio will be out for the rest of the season.
Lessio suffered a lower body injury and will not return to the ice this season. There are currently no signs of a comeback for Hirano either: the striker injured his upper body in the game against Kassel and is still not fit for action.
For Lange, the double loss is particularly bitter, as both attackers are among the team’s most important offensive forces.
Lessio is also no stranger to the ICE Hockey League. The Canadian previously played for HC Bozen and KAC, among others, and was able to show his qualities in attack there. Hirano also gained experience in Austria: The Japanese was under contract with HC Innsbruck for one season, but was unable to meet expectations there.
Harry Lange has only been behind the Düsseldorf team since this season. The coach previously worked at the Graz99ers, where he worked as head coach last season and at the beginning of this season before the separation took place in the fall.
The loss of two key players now makes the task much more difficult for Lange and DEG in the fight for the playoffs.
