There has been a real earthquake at the traditional club HC Ambri-Piotta, where ÖEHV export Dominic Zwerger is under contract: the entire sporting leadership trio is resigning with immediate effect. Coach Luca Cereda, sports director Paolo Duca and president Filippo Lombardi are leaving the club – after an internal rift that shook the club to its foundations.
As it became known, President Lombardi is said to have negotiated with a new coach behind the back of the sports management. When Cereda and Duca found out about this, they immediately took action and submitted their resignations. Lombardi then also resigned from his position.
Cereda and Duca have had a decisive influence on Ambri-Piotta since 2017 and led the traditional club back into calmer sporting waters. Lombardi had headed the club since 2009 and was considered the face of the reconstruction in Ticino.
