The transfer deadline in the ICE Hockey League ends on February 16th. Defending champions Red Bull Salzburg have been looking for a defender for a long time and have now found one. The Graz99ers and the Vienna Capitals are also still on the lookout for reinforcements. In addition, other ICEHL clubs could add shortly before the transfer deadline.
We take a look at league-proven players who are currently without a contract and could be interesting for several teams:
Brett Findlay
The 33-year-old Canadian has plenty of ICEHL experience: the center has played 250 league games so far for Bozen, Fehérvár and most recently HC Pustertal. Last season he almost averaged a point per game with the Wolves. Since then, Findlay has been without a club – offensively he could be a real reinforcement for many teams.
Willie Raskob
The Canadian defender was under contract with the Vienna Capitals last season and was one of the few bright spots in a difficult season. He scored a strong 29 points in 49 games. After the end of the season, there was even talk of ending his career at times, but so far Raskob is still without a club.
Seamus Donohue
The 29-year-old American, who came to Vienna towards the end of the 2023/24 season, was also most recently active with the Vienna Capitals. The defender has played 68 ICEHL games so far and collected 25 points. He has also been without a club since last season.
Viktor Svedberg
The 2.06 meter tall Kazakh-Swedish defender played for HC Pustertal last season. He previously played almost 200 KHL games and 30 appearances in the NHL. A rumored move to Sweden fell through in December. Above all, Svedberg could provide defensive stability and physical presence.
Paul Postma
The 36-year-old Canadian was the defensive heart of the EC KAC for four years. In total, the former NHL defenseman played 178 ICEHL games and collected an impressive 141 points. After relegation with Düsseldorfer EG last season, Postma is currently without a contract.
Nick Albano
The 29-year-old American is a strong offensive defender and also has no club. Albano had 47 points in 79 games for the Innsbrucker Haie and the Graz99ers. After terminating his contract in Graz in the preseason, he is waiting for a new commitment.
Blake Parlett
The 36-year-old Croatian-Canadian defensive defender played for HC Bozen in the 2023/24 season and was most recently under contract with Košice in Slovakia. Parlett is considered a uncompromising, physical defender and has been without a club ever since.
