Before the duel with VSV: personnel shortage at the Pioneers Vorarlberg!

After an intense weekend, the next game for the Pioneers Vorarlberg in the win2day ICE Hockey League is scheduled for today. The VSV is a tough guy visiting the Vorarlberghalle.

Look at the opponent

The EC iDM Heat Pumps VSV arrives in sixth place in the table. The Carinthians have won four of their last five games. Villach’s top scorer is Russian Nikita Scherbak, who has already recorded 24 points (7G, 17A). The goalie duo is Joe Cannata and Rene Swette from Vorarlberg, with the 35-year-old American playing the majority of the games and guarding the goal in 15 of 17 games. As mentioned, the VSV has been in good shape recently and will travel to Feldkirch with the aim of maintaining its current top 6 position. The first meeting this season ended with the Eagles winning 5-2.

Pioneers want to surprise

The guests from Villach are the favorites to take to the ice in the Vorarlberghalle, not just because of the last results or the direct encounters. Nevertheless, the Pioneers have always achieved good performances, especially in home games against more highly rated opponents, which have already been rewarded with points.

PIV head coach Johannes Nygard in the run-up to the game against the Adler: “Of course we are not happy with the result against Ferencvaros, but we are happy with our performance. We can and want to take some of the good things from this game with us for the duel with Villach on Wednesday.”

However, there are some question marks in terms of personnel before the home match against VSV: “Unfortunately, some players are ailing, both health-wise and due to injuries. It will only be decided on match day whether and who is fit to play.”
